DIGITAL PRINTING SYSTEM
The Dayton Scientific Digital Printing System consists of hardware and software developed for input, processing, and output
of imagery. The system consists of equipment and processing software to perform the following steps:
- Scanning to convert black and white or color slides, black and white or color negatives, paper images, or line imagery
to digital form.
- Processing of the digital image data for color correction, scaling, merging, cropping, brightness adjustment, contrast
adjustment, etc.
- Outputting of the digital data, onto either film or directly onto a printing plate. A modulated laser is used to write
the data. A patented area modulation technique is used to print the tonal data.
